In this quick guide, I will show you how to scan documents with HP Envy 4500 wireless printer. HP Envy 4500 wireless printer comes with a scanning capability but unfortunately, many users don't know how to scan with it.
If you have the same problem scanning with this printer, simply follow the the instructions below:
Install the HP Envy 4500 wireless printer driver on your computer. This driver normally comes with the product when you purchase it. But if you dont have you can download it here.
Scanning A Document Using HP Scanning Utility. Ensure that the printer is turned on and connected to the computer. Open the scanner cover. Place the document to be scanned face down on the scanner bed, its edges touching the bottom right hand border of the scanning bed. Flip down the scanner lid. Switch on the printer. For network printers installed on Windows Operating System computers, open the HP software. Click on the scanner actions, select manage, scan to computer, and then click on enable. When you have your document or image ready, load it onto the scanner glass.

Here are the steps to enable Scan to Computer:
- Double click the icon on your desktop for the HP ENVY 4500 series. The printer assistant will open.
- Under Scan, select Scan to Computer.
- If scan to computer is already enabled. Select disable, and then enable again.
- Retry the scan from the printer.
Note: You can also just start the scan from your computer as well. The printer assistant will give you more options to customize your scan.
If the scan to computer will not enable, or if it still doesn't work after being enabled, try doing a network power reset. Let's leave the router on and unplug the power cable (NOTE: Do not reset the router.), then do the same with the printer, and shut down the computer.
After a full minute, plug the router back in, wait for it to fully power up, then plug the printer back in and wait for the wireless light to become solid.
Once both the router and printer are on, go ahead and turn the computer back on. Doing this will refresh the network connection.
